Guangzhou Hotels for the Canton Fair: Where to Stay
Guangzhou is China's third city and capital of Guangdong province. For most foreign visitors it means one thing: Canton Fair (April–May, October–November). During those weeks hotels are 2–3× more expensive, the metro is packed, and taxis disappear. Picking the right district saves you 30 minutes of sleep a day and thousands of yuan.
Pazhou — the exhibition district
Pazhou is the island where the Canton Fair Complex sits. You're 5–10 min walk from the expo and the Xingangdong/Pazhou metro. Priciest option, but by far the most convenient during the fair.
- Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou (5★, $200–500/night) — 2 min walk from the South entrance.
- Langham Place, Guangzhou (5★, $180–450/night) — 5 min walk.
- Sheraton Guangzhou Hotel (5★, $160–400/night) — 10 min walk.
- Canton Fair Plaza Novotel (4★, $90–250/night) — right across the street.
Zhujiang New Town — CBD and business
Zhujiang New Town is the modern CBD with Canton Tower and skyscrapers. 15–20 min to Pazhou by metro (lines 5→8). Solid price/location balance, plus bars, restaurants and night views.
- Four Seasons Guangzhou (5★, $280–600/night) — IFC tower, SkyPool on the 70th floor.

Tianhe — malls and metro
Tianhe is the shopping district with Grandview Mall and Guangzhou East Railway Station. 25 min to Pazhou by metro.

How to book for Canton Fair
Start looking 4–5 months before the session. At peak sessions (spring phases 1 and 3, autumn phase 2) most Pazhou hotels sell out 3 months ahead.
Transfer logistics: taxi vs metro
On fair days taxis at Canton Fair Complex are nearly impossible — queues can reach 1–1.5 hours. Metro (lines 8 and 3) is faster: 10–20 min. In our packages we pre-book private transfers.
What to avoid
Avoid Yuexiu and Liwan — old districts, far from Pazhou (45+ min), narrow streets, little English. Avoid Baiyun (near the airport) — you'll lose an hour a day commuting.
